Hi Ann Marie I’m a list person too! I got such a kick out of the difference between the lists, but definitely agree that you can combine them depending on the event and your audience. My check lists keep me organized and I think I would be very stressed w/out them. Thanks for commenting and hope you have a great weekend!

Gosh, I know that 2000 list! Ha! And I like the 2010 list. I think both have merit and can be combined based on the type of event and organization. I’m always amazed at how many “planners” don’t use checklists and wonder why they are stress, but that’s for a whole other post… I like checklists…

I have a feeling that once you get a taste of what social media can do to enhance engagement and community around an event, then the old list will be a thing of the past! It’s just a matter of getting everyone introduced to social media and up to speed

I agree with Paul. There are too many event planners still stuck using the 2000 list. Thanks for a great post – very thought provoking and useful. I am meeting with a chamber of commerce next week to help them use social media in planning/promoting their events. I’m sharing your post with them first.

Hi Paul! Thanks I think you’re right! Working off of 2000 checklist just doesn’t cut it today. Social tools allow us to focus on the people, engagement and enhancing the event experience. I look forward to meeting you on Saturday. It should be a really great event.

nice post. it’s amazing, actually, how many event people are still working off the 2000 list today and not thinking about how social engagement and social tools can extend their events and marketing of events into new realms that are far more customer-centric.
