Here’s my second interview at the the Mercedes-Benz Bridgehampton Polo Challenge on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Sheila Marikar, Entertainment Reporter/Producer at ABC News, was kind enough to interview with me regarding the importance of building a relationship (the right way) with the media. Thanks for posting, Deirdre! It’s always good to hear pitching advice directly from a reporter or producer. A lot of their feedback goes back to the basics – doing research and taking the time to get familiar with their previous content, rather than a blanket email based on their title or beat.
This is awesome! It’s great to hear from the press themselves what THEY are truly looking for – a sure fire way to build a healthy relationship. From time to time, I love to check in with my close media contacts and just try to get feedback about what I send them – it really helps me improve my work, and I also think they appreciate knowing a PR professional actually cares about what they’re doing.
If you could post more videos/interviews like this, I would sooo love it, and I’m sure many others would as well!
