It’s tPRSTUDCHATime to ring in the New Year with #PRStudChat! On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. ET, PR professionals, students and educators will join together for a special chat session focused on “PR Wishes and Best Practices” for the industry in 2015. Making resolutions is the easy part, understanding the hard work and effort required to keep your resolutions can be a challenge.

Our community will discuss how communicators can move forward to raise the bar in public relations, in the minds of executives and in the eyes of the public. The chat session, “PR Wishes and Best Practices” will include eight New Year’s Resolutions for the PR professional and we would like your advice on the best ways to keep these resolutions.

Resolution 1: I will find new ways to leverage the power of data in 2015. Ideas?

Resolution 2: I will find ways to do more with less (budget) in 2015. Advice please?

Resolution 3: I will use strategic communications to build mutually beneficial relationships with the public… suggestions?

Resolution 4: I will protect and advance the free flow of accurate and truthful information. How?

Resolution 5: I will listen to all relevant stakeholders and understand what’s being talked about. Best practices?

Resolution 6: I will identify measurable outcomes that offer meaning and value for the business. Where to start?

Resolution 7: I will boost visibility of the important messages my org /client seeks to communicate. Best practices?

Resolution 8: I will work to strengthen the public’s trust in the public relations profession. Best approach?

We’re thrilled to announce that Marketwired will be sponsoring the January 21st session. They will help us to spread the New Year cheer and support your ongoing commitment to our profession, with an opportunity for community members to receive some exciting prizes. The Marketwired sponsored prizes will include:

– $50.00 for the student to take their mentor to lunch.

– $50.00 to celebrate your professional success with a loved one… work/life balance matters too!

– $200.00 to give your professional wardrobe a lift, or the $200.00 may be used toward your current (or continuing) education, such as books, subscriptions, etc.

We’re also excited to have the @Marketwired community manager participate in the chat session with us on the 21st!

More details will be coming soon on the #PRStudChat January “PR Wishes and Best Practices” discussion, sponsored by Marketwired. But, for now, please help us spread the word about our New Year’s celebration.

We’re looking forward to a really informative session, as we kick off the New Year, give away prizes, and look to a bright PR future. See you on January 21st!

A Little More About PRStudChat:

It began with a simple question asked by Angela Hernandez, then President of PRSSA at Central Michigan University (CMU). “Is PR Right for me?” A follow up blog post by PR 2.0 expert Deirdre Breakenridge inspired a series of direct messages on Twitter between Breakenridge and fellow PR industry pro, Valerie Simon. This was an important question and one that should be explored beyond one student or one blog post. Why not build a community to help students across the country, and even the globe, learn from the experience and perspective of industry professionals… A community where everyone can learn and grow together. Read more
