Happy New Year and all the best to our friends and colleagues in 2011!  #PRStudchat is ready to begin another exciting year of insight, fun, friendship and opportunity.  We want to start 2011 with a strong focus on social media strategy, planning and policy-making.  Our topic has been in the news and is on the mind of employees, executives and business owners.  It’s the social media policy and there’s a lot of ground to cover in one chat session.

On January 19th 2011 at 8:30 p.m. we’ll bring together a panel of special guests (to be named shortly) who will discuss the social media policy from personal experience at the strategy table; from the beginning of the process and who should be involved in policy creation, to how to determine whether or not a policy should include a statement on personal participation and what legal language should be addressed.  We’ll chat about the legal concerns, employee access and use, and types of content that’s acceptable to share.

Many companies and their employees are out there communicating through Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube and any number of other platforms, with vague policies and in some cases no policies at all.  We’re really excited to shed some light on the social media policy and to share best practices to policy building and employee participation.

We hope that you will join us on the 19th to discuss how policies can help employees and guide the organization’s communication.  Of course, we would be happy to hear the questions that you would like answered that night.  Feel free to share any of your questions in our LinkedIn Group.  Hope to “see” you as we kick off our very first Twitter discuss in 2011!
