The Winner of the #PRStudChat SWAGG Scholarship Award is …

The 12 Gifts of PRStudChat proved to be an inspiring way to end the year… nearly 1,500 tweets filled with valuable advice and acknowledgement of those who share their gifts with us each day.  As a special gift to our community, SWAGG, our December #PRStudChat sponsor, offered one lucky student a $200 scholarship toward their education! Students participating in the chat were asked to leave a comment on PRStudChat.com, answering the question, “How would YOU benefit from a $200 SWAGG Scholarship?”

We took the names of all those who left a comment and used randomizer.org to select the winner. And the winner (drum roll, please!) is…. Christina Morgan! Congratulations Christina! Here is the comment she left.

Hi Valerie & Deirdre–

As a soon-to-graduate (May 2011) of Florida State University’s College of Communication, student loans are less than a year away for me to begin paying off (EEK!). While some scholarships, grants, and full-time work throughout college have helped keep me afloat, the $200 SWAGG scholarship would definitely go toward back-paying my education! Also, my professional organization is taking a trip to Chicago, IL in March to visit some PR and advertising firms as prospective employers, so it could help pay for that too.

Thanks for continuing to provide opportunities like this to students–and for starting #PRStudChat, it’s been such a resource to so many!

Best of luck to all and Happy Holidays!

-Christina

We are proud to have such hardworking and dedicated students like Christina in our community. We were impressed by the responses from each of the students who commented and hope to offer many more scholarships and other giveaways in the future. The schedule for our 2011 Chats is available, so please take some time to mark your calendar now.

We very much appreciate SWAGG for working with us to provide this opportunity for our students. Please be sure to give a shout out to @swaggmobile & say thanks for taking the time to join our #PRStudChat in December, while they are busily in the process of rolling out a mobile app. The app lets friends give and receive gift cards from their smart phones, cutting down on the old-school plastic giftcards — relevant considering 60 percent of Americans will ask for gift cards this year (National Retail Federation). In addition, SWAGG is giving back through its partnership with Stand Up to Cancer. Every time the app is downloaded between now and Dec. 31, 2011, SWAGG will donate $1 to Stand Up to Cancer up to $125,000.  You can find SWAGG on and on Facebook.
